Gait Klein Kromhof
blues- and rootsmusician

At age 7, Gait’s mother taught him how to play the harmonica. The tiny instrument has never let him go ever since. As a teenager, he heard a Lightnin’ Hopkins record and immediately knew that was what he wanted to do.

He was further inspired by the old school harmonica players such as Big Walter Horton and DeFord Bailey and became a specialist of the old acoustic style himself, always committed to the music itself.

His style is immediately recognizable by its rich and piercing tones and by how it never fails to evoke strong emotions.

In 2010, he was awarded the Dutch Blues Award for best harmonica player. He has collaborated with J.W. Roy, Dede Priest, Shiner Twins and many others.

He currently plays the harmonica in Champagne Charlie and performs with several other bands as well. His solo album will be released shortly.
